About Our Founder: Gene Hampton

The transformation of our culture and public education system are the two major issues of our time. The third is: TO ASSURE Quality Government and Improve the Quality of Life for ALL!

A self-described "Truth Student", Gene Hampton is the founder of the Asheville-Buncombe & NC Citizens for Quality Government (NCCQG/A-BCQG), whose symbol is the "Circle & One". The "Circle" represents universal LOVE, UNITY and ONENESS (or spiritual /self-realization).

Retired fifteen years, Gene had an illustrious career of thirty three years as a Civil /Project Engineer and Quality Manager. His Community Affairs Activities include:

1. Founding Member, Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), which conducted the 1960 Nashville, TN SIT-INS

2. National Youth Director, NAACP, New York, NY, 1965

3. Chairman, Planning Committee, North Carolina Conference on Housing and Urban Development, 1967

4. Candidate, Durham City Council At-Large, Durham, NC 1969

5. Founder, Clark County, Nevada Coalition for New Politics (C3 NP), 1988

6. Founder, Asheville-Buncombe Citizens for Quality Government (A-BCQG), 2004

Born in Chicago, IL, Gene grew up in Magnolia, MS. He graduated from Tennessee State Univ. and attended graduate schools at the Universities of Washington and Iowa and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His thirty-three year employment history includes positions at IBM, GE, Johnson & Johnson and Union Carbide.
