Gene Hampton's Speech to Buncombe County Commissioners 4/8/2008

Speech Submitted to Buncombe County Commissioners for May 6th, 2008

Welcome

North Carolina Citizens for Quality Government (NCCQG) and Asheville-Buncombe Citizens for Quality Government (A-BCQG) are a unique group of citizens who may be either black, white, red, yellow or brown; who may be either Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jew or simply on of His children; and who may be either Democrat, Republican, Libertarian or simply Independent. We know the Truth, we know ourselves; We are ONE! And we are Peacemakers!

WE REALIZE THAT -

  • if we don't change the direction we are headed, we will end up where we are going.
  • our government responds too much to various separate and special interests and to little to our collective interests
  • we MUST ensure that our government of the people is truly by the people and for the people
  • the "price" of quality government is eternal vigilance.

WE RECOGNIZE -

  • Our responsibility for ourselves
  • Life is governed by spiritual law (Truth)
  • Our unique role in the "game of life" and in the governmental process.
  • The "quality" life is a "simple" life

"Education/Economic Stimulus" Needed

North Carolina needs an "Education Stimulus" to improve the quality of life for all citizens of NC.  An "Education Stimulus" will prevent crime, drugs and dropouts (CDD).  It is the duty of the State to guard and maintain the citizens' right to an education (Article 1, Section 15, NC Constitution).

We now know, that the Trickle Down Theory is just what George H.W. Bush said it was in 1980, "Voodoo Economics".

North Carolina's Constitution provides that  "...all persons have the inalienable right to enjoy the fruits of their own labor and the pursuit of happiness" ( Article 1, Section 1).

We need a PEES plan, a Political, Educational & Economic System Plan for WNC's economic development.  Did you know that in Montgomery County, Maryland, ALL the schools are EXCELLENT?

NC & All America Needs a Universal Health Care Plan
  • A plan that is just as good as the one members of Congress receive.
  • A plan that focuses on wellness and not sickness.
  • A plan with an emphasis on prevention rather than correction.

Excerpt from NCCQG presentation to Buncombe County Commission
"Many places in Buncombe County are bragging about being "Smoke Free".  Some are even vying to be the number 1 "freedom of speech-free" place.  Enough is enough!  It's time for Quality Government (TQG) in Buncombe  County. the primary purpose of government is to protect our individual rights/personal liberty (Article 1 sections 1 & 14, NC Constitution)."
